In Pennsylvania, prosecutors have brought to light unsettling revelations about a 34-year-old man accused of grave robbing. Jonathan Gerlach, hailing from Ephrata, was apprehended by police as he exited Mount Moriah Cemetery. He was reportedly carrying a burlap bag, a crowbar, and various other tools, leading to his arrest.
Gerlach is now facing an overwhelming array of more than 500 criminal charges. These include 100 counts each of abuse of a corpse and desecration, alongside multiple counts of theft and other offenses. His alleged series of burglaries began in early November and persisted through December, as detailed by the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office in a recent report.
Authorities took Gerlach into custody on January 6, following a thorough investigation. The case has now captured widespread attention, with true crime experts Joseph Scott Morgan and Dave Mack delving into the grim details surrounding the suspect. In a shocking twist, Gerlach is said to have amassed over 100 human skulls in his residence, along with mummified body parts.
