Authorities in Illinois are delving into the tragic death of a local tavern owner discovered lifeless in her bar shortly after its doors opened on Monday morning.
The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office reported that Courtney M. Drysdale, aged 30, was declared deceased at The Line, a bar positioned near the border between Illinois and Indiana in Momence.
According to WLS, Drysdale typically began her day at the bar around 11 a.m., and law enforcement officials arrived at the scene just before the clock struck noon.
“Honestly, she was one of the kindest souls. I could turn to her for anything,” shared Hailey Gershon, a friend and colleague. “Courtney was someone who would sacrifice everything for another person and was always present for everyone, even when she faced her own struggles. She would set her troubles aside to ensure others’ happiness.”
Gershon also noted that Drysdale had once worked as a bartender at The Line before taking ownership. She is survived by a fiancé and her young daughter.
The sheriff’s office said that “evidence gathered during the preliminary investigation” led them to conclude Drysdale was murdered. Details were not provided.
The Line announced in a post on its Facebook page that it would be closed “until further notice.”
