A babysitter faces serious charges after allegedly inflicting severe injuries on a child she was entrusted to care for, and then attempting to conceal the evidence by washing the baby’s clothes.

According to a criminal complaint, Amanda Greger, aged 37, was responsible for looking after the young girl overnight on November 9 while the child’s mother was at work, as reported by WXIX. The following morning, the mother returned home to find her daughter asleep in a hoodie stained with what seemed to be blood and vomit.

Upon closer inspection, the mother observed that her daughter was unusually lethargic and had visible bruises on her lip. Alarmed by her daughter’s condition, she rushed the child to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Medical staff at the hospital, suspecting child abuse due to the severity of the injuries, promptly alerted the Goshen Township police. The child was found to have blood seeping from her right eye and was suffering from a brain bleed, underscoring the serious nature of the injuries.

The child had blood seeping from her right eye and a brain bleed.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the mother’s home and found blood stains in one of the bedrooms. They learned, however, that Greger had washed the clothing the girl had been wearing, but stains were still visible on the clothes. The mother confirmed that the washed clothing was what her daughter had been wearing when she left.

According to WLWT, the 1-year-old baby girl remains under medical care.

Prosecutors said in court that  Greger told police she consumed alcohol and was using THC and unprescribed muscle relaxers on the night she was carrying for the baby. She also said she didn’t recall what happened.

A GoFundMe set up to help the family with expenses says that Greger was a “lifetime friend” of the mother ” who had been “trusted to protect and keep her kids safe while she worked to provide for them.”

Greger was charged with two counts of child endangering and one count of tampering with evidence and was given a $500,000 cash bond. If she bonds out, she is ordered to stay away from children.

She is due in court again on December 1.
