Authorities have released new information about the 32-year-old woman killed in an apparently random stabbing in Times Square.
The victim was identified as Erin Piacenti, a Bank of America vice president.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague,” Bank of America said in a statement to the Associated Press. “She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones.”
According to People, Piacenti and her husband, Frank, had recently marked their second wedding anniversary. The couple had also taken a major step together, buying their first home in Chester, New Jersey, in September 2025.
The attack happened Aug. 31 on Seventh Avenue, just blocks from Bank of America’s office tower in New York City. Officials said a second victim, a 68-year-old man, was also stabbed and remained in stable condition.
NYPD Says Times Square Attack Appeared Random and Unprovoked
Following the violence, NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch addressed reporters, outlining the department’s early findings in the investigation.
Police identified the alleged attacker as Pamela Cisneros, 49, of Queens, New York.

“A witness at the scene told investigators that he observed the subject remove two knives from a red Target bag before approaching the first victim,” said Tisch. “The subject waved the knives before stabbing a 68-year-old man in the right side of his abdomen, in what appears to be a random and unprovoked attack.”
Police said Piacenti was stabbed within 20 seconds of the first victim before officers caught up with Cisneros.
Responding officers spent approximately four minutes speaking with Cisneros and repeatedly ordered her to put down the knives. During the encounter, Cisneros threatened the officers, telling them, “I’m not dropping anything. I would rather kill both of you,” Tisch explained, noting Cisneros allegedly repeated, “I will kill you.”
Bystander video showed police surrounding Cisneros as she held two knives in front of her. Officers were seen using stun guns as she advanced toward them before two officers ultimately shot her. Cisneros was taken to Bellevue Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Tisch revealed the alleged attacker had a history with the department.
“Cisneros has a documented mental health history with the NYPD, with one incident in 2018 and one in 2019,” she said. “She has no arrest history with the department.”
