A man wanted for a double murder in southern New York state may be in South Carolina.

Binghamton, New York, Police announced Saturday that Scott C. Mitchell was the suspect in the February 3 murders of two men in that city, while the Dorchester County, South Carolina, Sheriff’s Office announced it had found an abandoned vehicle connected to him at almost the same time.

“The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office has taken custody of a 2011 gray Chevrolet Impala, which is linked to Scott C. Mitchell, a suspect wanted by the City of Binghamton, New York Police Department for two counts of second-degree homicide,” sheriff’s office spokesman Steven Wright said, according to WCSC. “We are currently in the process of obtaining search warrants for the vehicle. Mitchell is considered armed and dangerous, and we urge the public to immediately call 911 if they see him.”

Binghamton Police said Mitchell, 50, was a suspect in the murders of Daniel McCloe and Marshall VanOven, WBNG reported.

The station said that McCloe, 58, and VanOven, 55, were reported missing on February 3, and their bodies were found in a private home two days later. An autopsy determined both men were murdered.
