In a tragic turn of events late Friday night, a deadly stabbing incident in California has led San Diego police to initiate a homicide investigation as they search for multiple suspects.
Homicide Lt. Lou Maggi reported that shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Friday, officers arrived at the 1600 block of Logan Avenue to find a 28-year-old man collapsing in a nearby alley due to his injuries. Despite immediate medical assistance from both a bystander and professionals at the scene, the victim succumbed to his wounds.
The victim, identified as being of Somali descent, was pronounced dead after being transported to a trauma center, Maggi confirmed.
According to CBS 8, detectives have ascertained that the victim was surrounded by a group comprising three Hispanic men and one Hispanic woman, who then proceeded to attack him.
Initially, a man and a woman were taken into custody near the scene for questioning; however, they have been released as the investigation progresses.
Detectives remained in the neighborhood throughout Saturday to canvas for witnesses and collect evidence, though no specific suspect descriptions have been made public.Â
The victim’s identity is currently being withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.
