A Cohasset resident, Brian Walshe, has been formally charged with the murder of his wife, Ana Walshe, who disappeared following a New Year’s Eve celebration in January 2023.
Authorities allege that the 48-year-old husband dismembered Ana and disposed of her remains in various trash bins around the area. Investigators have retrieved blood-stained evidence from the couple’s home, including a hacksaw.
Walshe has entered a plea of ‘not guilty’ to the charge of first-degree murder. While he remains in custody at the Norfolk County Jail in Dedham awaiting trial, it has been reported that Walshe was stabbed during an incident behind bars. He received medical treatment at a Boston hospital and was discharged the same night.
The Norfolk County Sheriff’s office stated that Walshe was attacked with a “makeshift blunt instrument,” and the assault was captured on surveillance footage within the facility.
Walshe is scheduled to attend his next competency hearing on November 14, with jury selection for his trial anticipated to commence on November 18.
