The man who pleaded guilty to slaughtering four University of Idaho students in an off-campus house in 2022 has complained of sexual harassment by other inmates in the maximum security prison where he is housed.

Bryan Kohberger asked to be transferred from J-Block to B-Block at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution in Boise in a handwritten note he submitted on July 30 — the day after his arrival at J-Block.

“Not engaging in any of the recent flooding/striking as well as being subject to minute-by-minute verbal threats/harassment and on that and other bases [sic] Unit 2 of J-Block is an environment that I wish to transfer from,” Kohberger wrote in a “resident concern form,” according to a copy obtained by PEOPLE.

Flooding refers to inmates purposefully flooding their cells to disrupt the prison.

Five days later he filed another concern form with a guard complaining that an inmate told told him he would “b**** f***” him. Kohberger also said another inmate told him, “The only a** we’ll be eating is Kohberger’s.”

The response to Kohberger’s first concern form noted that flooding is a “relatively rare occurrence” in J-Block, which is “generally a fairly calm and quieter tier.” The official told Kohberger to “give it some time.”

Prison officials noted at the end of the sexual harassment complaint that “Kohberger feels safe to remain on tier 2 in J-Block.”

PEOPLE did not say how it obtained the documents but credited the Idaho Department of Correction for a copy they posted with their article.

Kohberger avoided the death penalty when he agreed to plead guilty to the murders of Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves along with one count of burglary. He was sentenced to four consecutive life terms plus 10 years with no chance at parole.

The Department of Correction didn’t comment directly about the concern forms but had previously acknowledged Kohberger’s frequent complaints about “taunting.”
