A notable figure in California’s agriculture and energy sectors, Michael Abatti, was taken into custody on Tuesday, facing charges for the alleged murder of his estranged wife.
The 63-year-old was indicted in Arizona, following the death of 59-year-old Kerri Ann Abatti, who was found unresponsive in her home on November 20. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to reports from the Desert Sun.
Authorities in Navajo County moved swiftly, arresting Abatti on the same day of his indictment. He is currently held at the Imperial County Jail in California, pending extradition to Arizona.
In their investigation, Navajo County detectives carried out several search warrants on December 2, combing through properties and vehicles linked to the Abatti family, as detailed by the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office.

The Abattis had been married for 31 years when they separated in August 2023. The divorce proceedings were still ongoing at the time of the murder. The couple jointly owned Mike Abatti Farms.
