Staff report from Gainesville Police Department release
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is seeking help in identifying suspect(s) who abandoned an 8-week-old poodle in the parking lot of the Publix at 3720 NW 13th Street; the dog is in critical condition and may not survive.
At about 9:55 a.m. on June 3, unidentified suspect(s) were captured on Publix surveillance cameras, arriving and leaving in a gold Toyota Camry with noticeable damage on the driver’s side door area, as well as the rear panel area. It appears that one of the suspects is a light-skinned younger black male.
As of June 4, the dog is in critical condition and may not survive. It is suffering from an unknown virus or toxin that has progressed due to the lack of care provided by its owners. The dog was found locked inside a crate with no food or water and was unresponsive.
