In a tragic turn of events, one week after the tragic discovery of Rebecca Park’s body in a Michigan woodland, her mother and stepfather have been formally charged with her murder.

Cortney Bartholomew, Park’s mother, and her stepfather Brad Bartholomew faced arraignment on December 2 in the 84th District Court of Wexford County.

According to 9&10 News, Cortney Bartholomew faces multiple charges including premeditated murder, felony murder, torture, conspiracy to commit torture, assault leading to the miscarriage or stillbirth of a pregnant individual, conspiracy to assault leading to miscarriage or stillbirth, unlawful imprisonment, and unauthorized removal of a body.

Brad Bartholomew, charged as a habitual offender, is accused of homicide, conspiracy to commit homicide, torture, conspiracy to torture, assaulting a pregnant individual, conspiracy to assault a pregnant individual, unlawful imprisonment, and the unauthorized removal of a corpse, as reported by the outlet.

Both remain in custody without the possibility of bail, as stated by WPBN.

Oxygen has reached out to Wexford County prosecutors for additional comment, but has not yet heard back.

Parks was 38 weeks pregnant when she was reported missing, according to the office’s initial posting. When her body was discovered Nov. 25 in Manistee National Forest, it was three days after she was due to give birth, per PEOPLE

In the aftermath, Park’s fiancé, Richard Falor, was arrested Nov. 26 for multiple drug charges, according to MLive.com. That same day, her sister, Kimberly Park, was arrested over allegations surrounding evidence tampering, lying to a police officer and false report of a felony.

Cortney and Brad Bartholomew were initially scheduled to appear in court Dec. 1, before the prosecutor requested additional time to prepare their case.

“If there was ever a case where circumstances justify a delay of any type, it’s this case,” Wexford County prosecutor Johanna Carey said, per WPBN. “This is as serious as it gets. It’s as horrible as it gets.”
