ALACHUA, Fla. – In a significant legal conclusion, Chiarel Ruby Davis, a 39-year-old resident of Chiefland, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars, subsequently followed by five years under sexual offender probation. This outcome follows her plea of nolo contendere to charges of engaging in unlawful activities with a teenage victim aged 16 or 17.
The Alachua Police Department initiated their investigation back in May 2025 upon receiving a report from a concerned parent. Davis was accused of not only engaging in illicit sexual activities with the minor but also of distributing marijuana to the teenager. Furthermore, she reportedly sent explicit communications, both messages and images, and orchestrated unsupervised meetings with the minor, which took place without any parental approval. Specifics of the arrest remain undisclosed, as the report was sealed.
In connection with the case, Nicholas Jabari Scott also faced arrest. He was charged with distributing explicit images to a victim and for maintaining inappropriate communications with the juvenile, actions that are in direct violation of Florida’s legal statutes. Scott is currently housed in Alachua County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
After entering a plea of no contest on May 19, 2026, Davis faced a potential maximum sentence of 15 years in state prison for unlawful sexual activity with a minor. However, several other charges against her were eventually dismissed. At the sentencing hearing on July 13, Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard rendered a judgment of 10 years in prison, inclusive of credit for four days already served, with an additional five-year period of probation as a registered sexual offender to follow.
