Tragedy struck in California on Friday when authorities discovered a couple dead in their home shortly after one of their three children dialed 911, reporting that their father was assaulting their mother.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the distress call came in around 9:30 p.m. Responding officers were compelled to forcibly enter the residence, where they found both the man and woman deceased. Fortunately, the three children were unharmed.
Reports from KOVR reveal that deputies made the decision to break into the home after observing the woman lying on the floor through a window.
Sgt. Edward Igoe, speaking to KXTV, explained, “Our communications center received a call from a juvenile indicating their father was attacking their mother. Thankfully, the three children managed to escape the house while deputies were on their way.”
Local residents shared with the station that the father had previously been incarcerated and had only recently returned home. However, the sheriff’s office has not verified this information.
The sheriff’s office said they were investigating the incident as a murder-suicide but has not positively identified the parents. They did not say where they children are now or provide the ages.
