An unidentified couple may have uncovered a significant clue in the case of Nancy Gutherie, an 84-year-old woman from Arizona who vanished weeks ago.

While strolling along Campbell Avenue in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills, just under a mile from Gutherie’s residence, the couple stumbled upon a potentially vital piece of evidence. According to KVOA, they discovered what looked like a torn, bloodstained glove.

“It was indeed a black glove discarded in the desert, seemingly ripped,” the woman recounted.

She further described, “There appeared to be blood on the glove, particularly near the wrist and the index finger. It seemed as though it might have been used in connection with what investigators are seeking.”

The couple later found another glove approximately 10 feet away from the initial discovery, along with what they suspected to be blood droplets on a nearby rock.

The couple feared the impending forecasted rain might destroy possible evidence and called 911.

“And also from the glove it looked like a blood drop on a rock underneath the glove was like dried blood or something. We didn’t move it or touch it. We immediately were like we have to do something. So I was like, ‘I will call the sheriff department,’” the husband said.

Law enforcement questioned the couple and allowed them to leave while they remained on site until approximately 2 a.m.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has not confirmed if the gloves the couple found are among those that are being tested and processed.

“We cannot confirm at this time. Detectives and agents have collected multiple gloves from the area and analysis is part of the investigation.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, investigators believe someone took Nancy Guthrie, identified as the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, against her will from her Catalina Foothills home.

She was last seen on January 31 after family members dropped her off at home, following dinner. They reported her missing the following day, when she failed to show up for church.

KOVA reported that hundreds of calls come in daily to the Sheriff’s 911 Communications Center.

The department has received over 32,000 calls between February 1 through February 19.
