Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Taliyah Quentasia Rucker, 22, of Citra, was arrested yesterday for a March 2023 incident in which she allegedly pushed a woman to the ground, left the area, and then came back with a rifle and threatened to kill four people.

At about 10:20 p.m. on March 7, 2023, a Gainesville Police Department Officer responded to Gainesville Place Apartments (2800 SW 35th Pl), where the victims and witnesses said Rucker had started a physical fight with a woman, grabbing her hair and dragging her down to the ground. A witness reportedly said Rucker was angry because the victim was in a relationship with her former boyfriend.

The victim reportedly sustained minor injuries, including bruising on her knee and wrist. Two witnesses corroborated the victim’s account, telling the officer they saw Rucker drag the victim to the ground by her hair and “jump” her.

Rucker reportedly left in a vehicle after the fight but returned about 25 minutes later and allegedly pulled a rifle out of her vehicle. She allegedly pointed the rifle at four victims, asking, “Whatchu about to do?” and saying, “I’ll shoot y’all.”

Rucker was not arrested at the scene, but a warrant was issued for her arrest after formal charges were filed in September.

Rucker was arrested in Marion County on April 14, 2024, for allegedly threatening to harm a woman with a chrome pipe. She was released on $5,000 bail.

Rucker has been formally charged with simple battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has no criminal convictions but is still facing the Marion County charge. She has a history of dropped charges in Marion County, including domestic battery in 2020, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in 2021, and child abuse without great bodily harm in 2023. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $60,000, the amount set by Judge James Colaw in her arrest warrant.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
