A dramatic incident unfolded at a Washington Costco where an employee allegedly used his vehicle as a weapon against a coworker in a fit of anger driven by jealousy, as detailed in a probable cause affidavit sourced by Oxygen.
Tyler Sorensen, 22, now faces charges of second-degree murder linked to the demise of Jonathon Langdon. This development is according to King County court records reviewed by Oxygen. As of yet, it remains uncertain if Sorensen has entered any plea in response to the charges.
The affidavit reveals that Sorensen reportedly spotted Langdon embracing a mutual coworker who Sorensen identified as his ex-girlfriend as he was leaving work on July 31. This sighting allegedly ignited the tragic series of events.
In a message obtained by police, Sorensen expressed his fury by sharing a photograph of the embrace with friends, accompanied by the text, “Always told me he was just a friend. My blood is boiling.”
According to police accounts in the affidavit, Sorensen lay in wait for approximately 10 minutes until Langdon departed the parking lot on his motorcycle. Sorensen then pursued him and subsequently collided with Langdon, leading to the grave charges.
First responders found Langdon limp and unresponsive on the ground against a street sign in a planter strip.
Costco security footage cited in the affidavit, and published by the King County Prosecutor’s Office, showed a grey sedan striking the left side of Langdon’s motorcycle, before he was ejected from the bike.
“Langdon’s body is seen violently impacting the metal signpost,” according to the affidavit, “causing his body to wrap around the post and recoil backwards landing face down.”
After the crash, Sorensen drove away “without hesitation,” police wrote, only stopping “to make sure his vehicle was okay to drive home.”
He later returned to the crash scene. According to the Issaquah Police’s Facebook, “the suspect made statements acknowledging that he struck the victim’s motorcycle while acting out of anger.”
Sorensen also told police that he tried to “fight whatever it is I’m thinking or doing,” but ended up tailing Langdon to “spook him.”
Then, as he said in the affidavit, he “panicked and didn’t know what to do.”
He added, “It was stupid.”
But there was no romance.
The woman in question told police in a recorded interview that she does not characterize her relationship with Sorensen as dating.
In fact, she said she repeatedly told Sorensen that she “needed space” and for him to “respect her boundaries.”
Sorensen was arrested and booked into the King County Jail and is being held on a $2 million bail, court records show. He will next appear in court on Aug. 27.
His attorneys did not immediately return a request for comment from Oxygen. A spokesperson for Costco could not be reached by Oxygen.
