CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — As the countdown to the annual Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend begins, organizers have introduced a new way for participants to start the race. This year, the familiar sounds that typically signal the start—like air horns or gunshots—will be replaced by a different cue.
Traditionally, races across the state have begun with the sharp blasts of an air horn or the crack of a starter pistol. However, the Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend is pioneering a change in Illinois by moving away from these conventional sounds.
