ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Samuel Joseph Mantone IV, 26, was arrested last night on multiple Oklahoma warrants, and deputies added drug and firearm charges.
At about 10 p.m. on September 25, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Noble on Newberry Apartments (671 NW 120th Terrace) in Jonesville after a Gainesville Police Department officer reported seeing Mantone there; Mantone was wanted on multiple Oklahama warrants for use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and drug trafficking.
Deputies detained Mantone, and he reportedly told them he had a firearm in his waistband. The loaded gun was retrieved by deputies, and a search incident to arrest reportedly produced three apple-seed baggies containing a total of 3.9 grams of methamphetamines, four apple-seed baggies containing a total of 4.6 grams of marijuana, two lighters, and a “meth pipe.”
Mantone, who is a convicted felon, has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, unlawful concealed carry of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mantone has at least one felony conviction and active warrants out of Oklahoma. Judge Meshon Rawls found no probable cause for the second count of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon (ammunition loaded into a firearm generally does not qualify as a separate charge) and set bail on the remaining charges at $197,000.
