A body was reportedly found on Wednesday during a search for a 2-year-old boy who disappeared a month earlier.

Montrell Williams vanished on May 10 during a custodial visit with his father, who allegedly told the boy’s mother that he tossed their son into the Bronx River. Sources told the New York Daily News that a body was discovered in water at Ferry Point Park, about two miles from where the Bronx River flows into the East River.

On Monday, Williams’ father was ordered to remain jailed after he refused to tell the courts where his son is.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed the father and son walking along the Bronx River on May 10. Additionally, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said someone was seen throwing a package from a bridge into the river.

WNBC reported that Williams’ father wandered off with his son during a family gathering on May 10. The boy’s mother immediately called the police about her son. However, sources said officers initially logged the incident as domestic — meaning the missing person case was not relayed to detectives.

Williams’ father and paternal grandmother reportedly also argued the day the boy disappeared. The grandmother went to the police a day later.

Sources told WNBC that Williams’ mother and other family members repeatedly called the police again after the father failed to return the child in accordance with their custody agreement.

Williams’ mother spotted her son’s father on the street in Manhattan on Saturday and confronted him about their son. The father was arrested after he allegedly pulled a knife on her, leading her to call the cops. Sources claimed it was during that incident when Williams’ father said he threw their son in the river.

Williams’ father has not been charged in connection with his son’s disappearance or presumed death.
