An Illinois woman is behind bars after she allegedly stabbed her own son over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, police were contacted by staff at Evanston Hospital after a young child was admitted with a puncture wound to the abdomen by a “sharp object”, according to CWB.

The police learned that the boy was stabbed at his residence, an apartment complex in the 1700 block of West Touhy Avenue in the Rogers Park area.

Chicago police gave a statement saying, “a 7-year-old male victim inside a residence was approached by a 26-year-old female offender who produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim.”

The child was transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he underwent surgery. The young boy is listed in fair condition.
