An Alabama man is behind bars after police found human remains who they believe are of a missing woman who vanished over the weekend.

Florence police announced Tuesday that they discovered human remains believed to be those of Autumn Paige Strickland, a 38-year-old woman reported missing on Saturday.

“Those remains will be sent to a forensics lab to be analyzed for proper identification,” Florence police Capt. Jason Fort said, according to Al.cim.

Logan Rogers, 28, of Florence, was arrested and charged with murder.

Fort indicated that the investigation into Strickland’s disappearance suggested she had been intentionally struck by a vehicle.

On Tuesday, police arrested Rogers at a home in the 2200 block of North Wood Avenue in Florence. Fort reported that they upgraded his charge from attempted murder to murder after finding the remains at the residence.

“Based on this discovery, his charge has been upgraded to murder,” FPD said in a news release.

Rogers remains behind bars at the Lauderdale County jail without bail. Check back for updates.
