A woman from Washington state found herself behind bars on Monday, accused of sexually abusing a teenage boy who was later identified as the father of her child born earlier this year.
The investigation kicked off when authorities learned that 43-year-old Robyn Polston had given birth in January. Initially, Polston claimed the father was a man in his 20s whom she hadn’t seen since the child’s birth. However, DNA tests later confirmed that the teenage boy was indeed the father, as reported by WMBD.
In 2023, Polston was a chaperone at a school dance that the boy attended. Although the boy had moved away, he frequently returned to the area to visit friends.
According to prosecutors, Polston and the boy used burner phones, employing fake names to hide their identities. Despite these efforts, a search of their devices revealed explicit photos and videos of them together, as noted by WEEK.
Polston is now facing charges of criminal sexual assault and possession of child pornography. A judge has ordered her to remain in custody, citing concerns from Tazewell County prosecutors over her potential contact with the victim if released. Prosecutors also alleged that Polston’s mother and sister played a role in facilitating her illegal activities, according to WEEK.
Polston is due back in court on December 4.
