Donna Adelson has been handed a life sentence for orchestrating the murder of her former son-in-law, Dan Markel.
Following nearly three weeks of courtroom proceedings, the jury took a mere three hours to convict the 75-year-old of all charges brought against her.
Adelson was found guilty of conspiracy to murder, solicitation of murder, and first-degree murder in the plot against Dan Markel.
In response to her conviction, Adelson has sought a new trial, alleging several instances of jury misconduct, judicial bias, and insufficient evidence supporting the verdict.
The 18-page motion, submitted just two weeks after her conviction, also includes a request to interview two jurors involved in the decision-making process.
Adelson accuses the jury foreperson, juror number seven, of failing to follow the judge’s instructions on speaking out about the case.
