GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On Friday, July 26, at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers of the Gainesville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for numerous traffic violations. The vehicle, a grey Infiniti sedan, came to a stop and, as officers approached, fled the area at a high rate of speed. The officers did not pursue the vehicle.

The Infiniti traveled westbound on NW 10th Avenue at a high rate of speed. At the intersection of NW 10th Avenue and NW 6th Street, the Infiniti struck another vehicle.

Three passengers in the Infiniti were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the other vehicle (a red Dodge sedan) was killed.
