An equestrian from California, previously embroiled in a notorious murder-for-hire case targeting her estranged husband, has tragically ended her own life.
Tatyana Remley, aged 45, passed away on December 18 after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head, as verified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office in a recent announcement.
The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in a bustling public square located in San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood, where Remley’s actions were witnessed by bystanders.
The official release from the medical examiner stated, “Ms. Remley was seen inflicting a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a public setting. Emergency services were promptly alerted, and first responders attempted life-saving measures without success, leading to her death being confirmed at the scene.”
Following the incident, the San Diego Police Department publicly acknowledged the situation, confirming via their social media channels that a thorough investigation into the fatal incident is underway.
Remley’s death comes more than two years after she was arrested on suspicion of trying to hire a hitman to kill her estranged husband.
According to a press release from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, Remley met with an undercover detective in August 2023 and “provided detailed information on how she wanted her husband killed and his body disposed.” Police alleged that she brought three firearms and money “as a down payment for the murder.”
Later that month, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office charged Remely with one count of solicitation of murder, one count of having a concealed weapon that was not registered in her name in her vehicle, and one count of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place.
That December, Remley pleaded guilty to the first two counts, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to Oxygen. A judge sentenced Remley to three years and eight months in California state prison.
Remley was released early but faced more legal trouble. In September, she was charged with arson in connection to a July 2023 house fire, according to a criminal complaint viewed by Oxygen. The fire occurred the day before police first received a tip about Remley’s murder-for-hire plot, sparking their investigation.
oRemley was scheduled to appear in court on March 3, 2026, San Diego County District Attorney’s Office records show. It’s unclear if Remley had obtained an attorney in the matter prior to her death.
