Inset: Olivia Clendenin (Warren County Sheriff’s Office). Background: The 5500 block of Dearth Road in Warren County, Ohio, where Olivia Clendenin opened fire on a house where her estranged husband and new boyfriend were hanging out (Google Maps).
In Ohio, a woman, distressed over her estranged husband and his new partner socializing at a house party, resorted to gunfire, injuring an unintended guest on the porch, prosecutors revealed. She was found guilty of attempted murder and additional offenses connected to the shooting incident last week.
“She drove across the front yard and fired shots at the residence,” a Clearcreek Township police sergeant explained to the press following the shooting in January 2024, as reported by the Dayton Daily News.
Last Friday, a Warren County jury found Olivia Clendenin guilty on multiple counts — specifically, two charges of felonious assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, and attempted murder, according to local NBC station WLWT.
The prosecution alleged Clendenin’s anger stemmed from seeing her estranged husband and boyfriend at a New Year’s Eve gathering. After initially leaving the party in a fit of anger, she returned around 5 a.m., using her mother’s 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee to launch the attack on the house.
A man, aged 29, standing on the porch, suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen during the incident.
“Defendant attempted to cause the death of another by shooting a firearm from a motor vehicle,” a grand jury report said, according to the Daily News. “Defendant caused serious physical harm to the person shot and was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the offense.”
Clendenin crashed her mom’s Jeep after the shooting while fleeing. Cops said she struck a guardrail and a utility pole while going around a curve.
Clearcreek police arrested Clendenin, who pleaded not guilty, at the crash scene. She was released after posting bail and has been on electronic home detention, with a no-contact order in effect for witnesses involved in her case.
A sentencing date has not been listed in her online case file yet.
