In a shocking turn of events, a former “American Idol” contestant finds himself embroiled in legal troubles, facing multiple felony charges related to alleged sexual misconduct involving a minor.
As reported by TMZ, and corroborated by online court records from the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, Randy Madden, 45, was taken into custody on October 30. The charges Madden faces are serious and include several felonies.
- Unlawful sexual intercourse
- Anal and genital penetration by a foreign object

- Sending harmful matter
- Luring
- Dissuading a witness from reporting a crime
The incidents in question reportedly took place over the course of the summer months, specifically between July and September, as detailed in the court documents.
In response to the allegations, Madden has entered a plea of not guilty to all charges. He was subsequently released from custody after posting a bond of $100,000, allowing him to await further legal proceedings outside of jail.
The legal saga is set to continue with Madden’s next court appearance scheduled for November 13, where the case will proceed further.
Madden appeared as a contestant on the show’s eight season. The judges eliminated him following an audition in Phoenix, according to Mercury News.
