On Monday, the ex-husband of former First Lady Jill Biden was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder following the death of his current wife.
The New Castle County Police Department announced that they have secured an indictment against 77-year-old William Stevenson for the murder of his 64-year-old wife, Linda Stevenson. This announcement came through their official Facebook page.
According to a report by CBS News, Linda Stevenson was discovered unresponsive in the living room of the couple’s Delaware residence late last December. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
While the police have not disclosed the specific cause of Linda’s death, they did confirm that a “domestic dispute” had occurred. It was William Stevenson who made the 911 call, as noted by ABC News.
Jill Tracy Jacobs, who is now known as Jill Biden, married William Stevenson in 1970 when she was 18 years old, and he was 23. The couple divorced five years later. Jill went on to marry then-Senator Joe Biden in 1977, according to NBC News.
Linda and William Stevenson married in the mid-1980s.
William Stevenson has been booked into the Howard Young Correctional Institution on a $500,000 bond.
