A father was not thrilled with deputies who caught him after he was on the run for more than a week in connection with his 3-year-old daughter wandering outside, with the child sporting a bruise and a fresh abrasion, according to deputies in Indian River County, Florida.
“F— you,” Cody William Goble told officers when he was arrested.
Goble, 39, posted a $17,000 bond out of the local jail for child neglect as well as possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia because deputies claimed he had meth and a pipe when they caught him.
Body camera footage obtained by Tequesta ABC affiliate WPBF shows the man identified as Goble yelling expletives while a deputy has a taser pointed at him.
According to deputies, the situation dates back to May 3, when a local man playing with his own daughter spotted the 3-year-old girl wandering alone.
“He stated that it appeared she was walking out from the wood line directly across from the residence,” authorities wrote. “He advised he walked over and she raised her arms up to be picked up by him.”
Deputies said they found the child’s mother, who had no idea her daughter was allegedly wandering alone.
According to documents, the mother said she had dropped her three children off at their father’s residence at approximately 5:30 p.m. Though the two elder children, 7- and 9-year-olds, were found fine at a friend’s home, the baby girl was roughly a few blocks away from where her father lived.
The mother said she had gotten a call from the father at approximately 7:21 p.m. that evening, and he said he could not find the girl.
She “stated that she became panicked because this happened previously in January with Cody and that a recent DCF investigation into that incident had just closed,” authorities wrote.
Authorities claimed to have found Goble’s phone in a ditch. They said they managed to reach him by phone the next day, and that he refused to meet them in person because he did not want to go to jail. He allegedly said he had lost track of his daughter, who was playing outside, because he had given chase to their fleeing dog.
Investigators said they tracked him down on May 12 to a lot where there was a gas station next to an arcade. Having seen them, he fled into the arcade building, but to no avail, according to documents.
