A woman from Michigan is currently being sought by the FBI due to her alleged participation in a fraudulent scheme that reportedly netted millions of dollars. The authorities have identified the suspect as Mary Carole McDonnell, 73, who is accused of deceiving banks and other institutions over the course of a year by falsely presenting herself as a wealthy heiress.

According to an FBI press release, McDonnell allegedly claimed to be linked to the McDonnell Aircraft Family, which no longer exists, and purported to have access to a secret trust worth $80 million. These allegations suggest that her fraudulent activities spanned from approximately July 2017 to May 2018.

During this period, McDonnell is accused of crafting and carrying out a plan to illegally acquire money, assets, and property belonging to the Banc of California, all while fully aware of her deceptive intentions, as stated by the authorities.

In light of these accusations, McDonnell faces charges of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft. Consequently, a federal arrest warrant was issued against her on December 12, 2018, by the United States District Court for the Central District of California in Santa Ana.

McDonnell has been charged with bank fraud and aggravated identity theft, leading to a federal arrest warrant being issued on Dec. 12, 2018, in the United States District Court, Central District of California, Santa Ana, Calif.

“McDonnell allegedly and fraudulently obtained a total of approximately $14.7 million from the bank, to which she knew she was not entitled and has not paid back,” the FBI claimed. “It is alleged that McDonnell also defrauded additional financial institutions in a similar fashion, with an estimated loss of over $15 million.”

As for where McDonnell might be today, the FBI said they believe she’s currently in Dubai, but also noted that she has ties to Los Angeles and Montgomery, Ala.

In the request for public assistance, the bureau revealed McDonnell’s aliases include: Mary Carole Carroll, Mary Carol McDonnell, Mary Carroll McDonnell, Mary C. Carroll and Mary Carroll McDonald.

The FBI’s bulletin also detailed McDonnell’s last-known description, saying she’s 5-foot-7inches in height, weighs 145 pounds, has blue eyes and blonde hair, and bears a scar on her right knee.

Authorities asked that anyone with information concerning McDonnell’s whereabouts to contact their local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.
