In a recent development, the FBI has launched an investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, who vanished from her Arizona home. The 84-year-old was reported missing on Sunday after she did not attend her usual church service.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared that Nancy Guthrie was last seen on Saturday night and did not appear at church the following morning, sparking concern. The FBI, through Assistant Special Agent Jon Edwards from its Tucson office, is now working alongside local officials. Their efforts include analyzing cell phone data and cell tower information, as well as conducting interviews to trace her whereabouts.
During a press conference held on Monday, Sheriff Nanos referred to Guthrie’s Tucson residence as a “crime scene.” However, by Tuesday, the authorities had completed their initial investigation at the home, and it has since been returned to the Guthrie family.
While details remain scarce, Sheriff Nanos highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the case, noting, “We don’t know if multiple people were involved.” The investigation continues as both local and federal agencies collaborate to uncover more information about Nancy Guthrie’s sudden disappearance.
Nanos described the Tucson home as a “crime scene” during Monday’s press conference. On Tuesday, he said that they are no longer at the residence and have released it to Guthrie’s family.
Sources told The Post about evidence — specifically blood and signs of forced entry– which suggested foul play is involved in Guthrie’s ongoing disappearance.
The missing 84-year-old’s daughter is “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, 54. On Tuesday, the anchor issued a statement thanking the public for “lifting your prayers with ours.”
