In a disturbing incident in Florida, a woman is facing charges of false imprisonment and burglary after allegedly attempting to kidnap a 5-year-old boy from his grandmother’s vehicle. The accused, 38-year-old Ivanna Nobile, is also subject to an immigration hold, according to records from the Broward County jail.

The unsettling episode unfolded at a gas station when the boy’s grandmother made an unexpected stop due to her SUV emitting smoke. As reported by WPLG, it was at this moment that Nobile approached, presenting the grandmother with what appeared to be an Argentinian identification, claiming the person depicted was her aunt.

Initially, the grandmother dismissed the encounter, not giving it much attention. However, the situation escalated when Nobile made her move, opening the back passenger door where the young boy sat. With a brazen declaration, Nobile reportedly said, “I’m taking him,” adding a racially charged remark about the child’s appearance in relation to his grandmother.

This alarming attempt was thankfully thwarted, but it serves as a stark reminder of the vigilance required to keep our communities safe. The case continues to unfold as authorities look deeper into Nobile’s background and motives.

“I’m taking him,” Nobile said as she grabbed the child’s arm. “This child is the wrong color to be with this woman.”

The police report on the incident said that surveillance video and witnesses corroborated the grandmother’s statements, with the witnesses reporting they were alerted to the incident by the grandmother’s screams.

One witness said she heard the grandmother “screaming for help stating that this woman was trying to kidnap her kid,” Law&Crime reported. She said she saw the suspect “pulling on” the boy’s arm, the affidavit says.

Police arrived on the scene after the grandmother called 911. Nobile was taken into custody but “refused to speak” with the officer who wrote the affidavit.
