A Florida man has been charged with the shooting death of his wife after he called the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office to report he’d killed her over suspected infidelity.

Rogelio Prestol, 46, called 911 at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Deputies arrived at the home and found Jhesandra Prestol, 40, dead and two children inside the home, not physically harmed, the sheriff’s office said.

According to a probable cause statement, Prestol said he had suspected his wife of cheating on him and on Sunday demanded that she unlock her phone because he believed she had been sending money to someone she was talking with online, WFTX said. When she refused, he pulled out a 9mm handgun and began threatening her.

With the couple’s son pleading with his mother to comply, the mother began to climb out a window, but Prestol shot her. She got outside, Law&Crime reported, but Prestol went to the front porch and kept firing “until he ran out of ammunition.” He reportedly told investigators he didn’t bother to check on her because he “knew she was dead.”

Then he called his brother and told him what he’d done. He reportedly told the brother he was going to kill himself, but the brother persuaded him to call 911 instead.

One of the two children told police “his ears hurt because he was really close when his father shot his mother,” the affidavit said.

Prestol is charged with second degree murder and is being held without bond, WFXT said.
