A man who shot his girlfriend’s mother has received a life sentence in prison.

On Wednesday, State Attorney Ed Brodsky announced that Albert Wilcox, 44, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Wilcox was convicted of second-degree murder with a firearm, according to a press release.

As previously reported by CrimeOnline, a Florida woman’s 911 call went silent minutes before she was found shot to death inside her vehicle in Bradenton.

Bradenton police stated that dispatchers received a call just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday from Sherline White, who reported that someone was pointing a gun at her.

The call ended abruptly, and personnel could not reach the woman when they attempted to return the call, according to WFLA.

Minutes later, Bradenton officers found Sherline White, 53, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators discovered shell casings on the front porch of a nearby home.

Detectives identified the suspect as 41-year-old Albert Wilcox, who was taken into custody shortly after midnight in Glades County, located dozens of miles from Bradenton.

The lead prosecutor, Assistant State Attorney Suzanne O’Donnell, stated, “Due to the excellent work of the Bradenton Police Department and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the defendant was quickly apprehended after fleeing to Glades County, and he confessed to the crime,” O’Donnell expressed,

“This was a senseless crime that should not have happened, and now Ms. White’s family must bear the pain of her loss. Hopefully, this life sentence will provide some comfort to them.”
