A 43-year-old Florida man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at several kids and threatened to shoot them and “watch them bleed out” after they created a wake near his boat.

The New Smyrna Beach Police Department was first alerted on Saturday by another man who reported that he’d gotten into a verbal altercation with a man who offered him whiskey and then got angry after he declined, WOFL reported. The reporter described the man and said he left the boat ramps in a white Nissan Frontier towing a white Key West boat.

Then, according to an affidavit, a juvenile approached the officers and told them that a man had brandished a gun at his friends on the water. He said he was not involved in the incident but showed officers video on his phone. Juveniles were were involved also arrived on the scene and described what happened.

They said the man got angry when they created a wake near his boat and pulled a gun, pointed it at them, and waved it around. He told them he would “shoot them and watch them bleed out,” the juveniles said.

Investigators eventually located the Nissan Frontier and identified its owner as Christopher Evensen. Evensen reportedly confirmed he had been in a verbal altercation with the kids but denied having a gun.

Evensen has been charged with aggravated assault and improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon and booked into the Volusia County jail, New Smyrna Beach police said.
