A tragic incident has unfolded in Florida, where a 43-year-old woman has been taken into custody following the death of her young son.
Diana Cullom faces charges of first-degree murder after her 4-year-old son was discovered dead. The grim discovery was made by her 16-year-old daughter, who returned from school to find her mother in bed holding the lifeless child, according to a report from BayNews9. Distressed by the sight of blood throughout the home, the teenager immediately called emergency services.
Initial assumptions suggested the boy might have been fatally stabbed due to the presence of blood. However, an autopsy revealed that he had been suffocated, with no stab wounds present. The blood reportedly originated from Diana Cullom herself, who had inflicted non-life-threatening stab wounds on her own body. She was subsequently admitted to Bayfront Hospital for medical care.
At the time of the incident, the children’s father was not at home. Law enforcement officials contacted him to return to the scene.
Authorities discovered a note at the site but have chosen not to disclose its contents.
WTVT identified the 4-year-old boy as Finley Collum. Diana Cullom was said to be in stable condition Tuesday evening, and she was booked into jail on the murder charge early Wednesday morning, jail records show.
She is due in court on Thursday, WTSP said.’
