Jennifer Gill (Marion County Jail).

A Florida woman, aged 45, is accused of assaulting her 83-year-old stepfather using “very dull” kitchen knives. According to law enforcement, she allegedly confessed to wishing the knives had been “sharp as f—” to ensure a fatal outcome.

Jennifer Gill faces charges of second-degree attempted murder following the attack on her elderly stepfather, as reported by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities were called to the scene around 9 a.m. on a Saturday, responding to a stabbing incident at a residence. As detailed in a probable cause arrest affidavit, the victim identified Gill as the assailant to the 911 dispatcher. His wife, who is also Gill’s mother, quickly transported him to the hospital. The victim sustained multiple injuries, including seven wounds on the back of his head, three on his left hand, and one on his left shoulder.

Gill’s mother recounted to investigators that she was awakened by the sound of the victim’s cries. Upon investigation, she discovered him “covered in blood with several wounds.” She also witnessed Gill outside, cleaning the victim’s cane with a hose, according to the police report. While the motive for the attack remains unclear, the mother mentioned her daughter harbors “hatred” towards the victim for reasons she could not explain, as noted in the affidavit.

Officers located Gill walking nearby and took her into custody. During questioning, she reportedly made several ambiguous remarks, suggesting the victim has inflicted “a lot of pain to people,” yet she failed to specify any particular incidents. She mentioned that “a lot of years of things” had been accumulating.

“Maybe I just acted on things,” she said, according to authorities.

Gill claimed the victim wanted to solve their problems and he kept following her. She allegedly said she “didn’t want to have to do it” but she figured she “might as well just try.” When cops asked what she wanted to try, she allegedly responded, “to kill him.” She claimed she previously told the victim “I should have killed you already.”

She allegedly sprayed soapy water in the victim’s eyes to stun him and she started “whacking him with the knife.” Gill noted the knives were “very dull,” per the affidavit. The victim tried to stand up from a chair, but she allegedly pushed him back down.

“I know it’s not nice to say, but from doing it, I wish to God they would’ve been sharp as f—,” she allegedly said.

After stabbing him several times, she allegedly started beating him with his cane.

Other family members reportedly contradicted Gill’s claims that he was abusive and described him as a sweet and quiet man who had trouble moving around because of a bad knee.

The victim was last listed in stable condition at the hospital.

Gill remains in the Marion County Jail without bond. Her next court date is set for April 21.
