"I Was Young, Dumb, In Pain": Ex Lovers Speak from Prison About Brutal Murder of Cab Drivers

Fifteen years have passed since Chaz Blackshear and Danielle Hudson committed the heinous murders of two taxi drivers in Texas, and now they are breaking their silence from behind bars.

Danielle Hudson, who received a 40-year sentence, will share her account for the first time in the December 21 episode of Oxygen‘s Snapped: Behind Bars. In this episode, she discusses her involvement in the consecutive fatal shootings that dramatically altered their lives.

Chaz Blackshear, serving a life sentence, reveals how his outlook has evolved over the years, particularly following his separation from Danielle.

Danielle Hudson Speaks Out on Snapped: Behind Bars

During an interview at the Dr. Lane Murray Unit women’s prison in Texas, Danielle explains why she has remained silent for so long about the tragic events.

“I feel it’s important for my version of events to be heard,” she confesses in a preview of Snapped: Behind Bars. “Something kept compelling me to finally speak out.”

“I’m really not, like, a bad person,” she continues. “I just made a lot of bad decisions because of the situation I was in.”

Which points back to Chaz, who she previously thought was the love of her life.

“I was so stuck on, like, wanting love that I let [that] cloud my judgement,” she admits. “Now that I’ve grown, I really wouldn’t say I was in love. Because when you’re really in love with somebody, you wouldn’t let them do what happened between us.”

Chaz Blackshear Admits He’s a Changed Man

For his part, Chaz also believes he’s grown.

Nine years after Snapped first spoke to him, he admits, he’s a different person: “I was young, dumb, in pain, immature.”

He’s taken stock of the gravity of his crimes. “I destroyed two families that didn’t deserve it,” he shares in the preview. “My love was so open, and my loyalty was so strong, I was easily influenced behind the wrong reasons.”

Who did Chaz Blackshear and Danielle Hudson murder?

On October 12, 2010, cab driver Mohammed Elsayed was robbed and shot during a job in Houston.

Meanwhile, two nights later, fellow driver Blaise Nwokenaka met the same fate.

Evidence led investigators to Chaz and Danielle, who’d each had previous encounters with the law.

The two were arrested in mid-October 2010, with Chaz confessing to shooting both drivers.

To learn more about the murders and what the former lovers shared about the crimes, watch Snapped: Behind Bars airs Sunday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. ET on Oxygen.
