Police in Mississippi discovered the body of Joyce Gomez, 38, in a wooded area near West Wittman Road in Harrison County on Sunday.

Gomez had been reported missing on Friday, and Pass Christian Police Chief Darren Freeman stated that investigators suspect foul play in her death.

“It’s an ongoing investigation,” Freeman said.

Gomez was last seen walking with a man around 10:52 p.m. Friday in downtown Bay St. Louis after working earlier at The Whiskey Bar in Pass Christian, according to friends.

WXCV reports that deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office found her body at around 11:25 p.m.

Gomez is survived by her children, along with other relatives.

Anyone with information about the car is urged to contact the Pass Christian Police Department at 228-452-3300 or Mississippi Coast Crimestoppers at 877-785-5898.
