GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Early this morning, authorities captured 32-year-old J’maka Pearl Williams, a fugitive sought for allegedly attacking her former boyfriend and severely damaging his vehicle.
Just before midnight on January 17, deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at an apartment complex in Tower Village. Upon arrival, they discovered significant damage to the victim’s car. The vehicle had a shattered windshield and window, broken side mirrors, and multiple dents. Witnesses report that Williams appeared intoxicated and repeatedly ignored commands to sit down, further resisting arrest by pulling away from the deputies.
The victim reportedly sustained a facial laceration, a scratch on his neck, and several scratches across his chest. Meanwhile, Williams exhibited numerous cuts and abrasions on her hands and feet, injuries consistent with breaking glass.
Williams now faces charges including felony property damage, domestic battery, and resisting an officer without violence. Additionally, she was taken into custody on a 2022 warrant for a probation violation, with the Department of Corrections listing her as a fugitive. Her criminal history includes one felony conviction for child abuse and three non-violent misdemeanor convictions. Judge Sean Brewer has ordered her to be held without bail concerning the probation violation until it is resolved. On the new charges, she remains held without bail pending a State Attorney’s office motion to keep her detained until trial. Should the motion be denied, bail will be determined at a subsequent hearing.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
