GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Isaiah A’keem George-Carter, 27, was arrested last night after allegedly pointing a gun at his ex-girlfriend and her neighbor following a dispute over custody of a child.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to Oak Park Mobile Home Park following a call about an armed disturbance; the victim reportedly told the deputy that George-Carter had “snatched” their child from her following an argument over a parenting plan and walked out of her home with the child. She said she followed George-Carter because she wanted to take the child trick-or-treating, but while they were all outside her home, George-Carter pulled out a gun and pointed it at her. She said George-Carter then put the child in his car and drove away.

The deputy reported that he contacted George-Carter by phone, and George-Carter said the victim threatened to kill him and put her hand into her purse, so he took out his gun and pointed it at her in self-defense because he didn’t know what she had in her purse.

A neighbor heard the argument and walked out of her house to see George-Carter pointing a gun at the victim. She said she heard the victim tell George-Carter to give back her child, so she ran over because she thought a child was being kidnapped. She said that when she ran toward George-Carter, he turned and pointed the gun at her. She did not want to pursue charges.

The victim told deputies she is in “constant fear” of George-Carter and that they have had many altercations in the past.

George-Carter has a juvenile criminal history and two adult misdemeanor convictions. He was arrested in October 2021 after allegedly breaking down a door and battering a woman; he was charged with burglary with battery, trespassing, violating a no-contact order, property damage, and domestic battery. He eventually entered a plea of nolo contendere to trespassing and was sentenced to six months of probation. Since 2020, charges of possession of a weapon on school property, child abuse, and domestic battery have been dropped.

Judge Walter Green set bail at $5,000.
