GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 57-year-old Gainesville man, Bobby Lee Davis, was arrested Monday after police said he threw a brick through the window of an occupied vehicle, shattering the glass.
According to the Gainesville Police Department, an officer was called to the 800 block of NE 16th Terrace at about 9:30 p.m. on August 27 after a victim reported damage to his vehicle. The victim told police he and Davis, whom he had known for several years, had been arguing before the victim got into his car to leave. As he attempted to drive away, Davis allegedly picked up a brick and hurled it at the vehicle, striking the left rear passenger-side window and causing both the window to break and the vehicle to sustain damage.
The responding officer reported locating a brick near the victim’s vehicle.

Police said Davis had left the scene before officers arrived. He was later taken into custody at about 6:38 p.m. on September 1 at the 8th Avenue Food Store, located at 1634 NE 8th Avenue.
Davis is charged with attempting to throw a deadly missile into a vehicle and misdemeanor property damage. Court records list six prior non-violent felony convictions and 16 prior non-violent misdemeanor convictions. He is also facing two Notices to Appear: one for driving without a valid license and another for allegedly picking up and riding away with a piece of equipment dropped by a Gainesville Police Department officer during a foot chase at the 8th Avenue Food Store. Davis previously served one state prison sentence and was released in 1995. Judge Lua Lepianka set his bail at $30,000.
