GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alejandro Luis Figeroa, 27, was arrested yesterday for allegedly pointing a revolver at a woman as she walked across Tom Petty Park.
At about 5:57 p.m. on September 22, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Tom Petty Park (413 NE 16th Avenue), where the victim said she had been in an altercation with Figueroa a few months ago, and while she was walking across the park yesterday, she saw him sitting in the driver’s seat of a white pickup truck. She said he drew a small black revolver and pointed it at her chest, and she retreated across the park because she thought he was going to shoot her.
A witness reportedly corroborated the victim’s story.
The officer found Figeroa standing next to a white pickup truck and reported that there was a small black revolver on the passenger seat.
Post Miranda, Figeroa reportedly said he had never been in an altercation with anyone at the park. He said he comes to the park after work to “decompress” but usually doesn’t talk to anyone.
Figeroa has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has no criminal convictions, and Judge Sheree Lancaster set bail at $25,000.
