Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Christopher Deona Daniels, 35, was arrested early this morning after allegedly throwing a glass container through a car window, breaking the window and injuring the occupant of the car.

At about 2:18 a.m. on October 12, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Eden Park (1310 NE 39th Avenue), where the victim said she and Daniels had argued while she was sitting in the driver’s seat of their vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex. She said she rolled up the window, and Daniels threw a glass container into the vehicle, breaking the window and gashing her knee. She drove away while calling 911, and when the officer made contact with her near the apartment complex, he reported that constant pressure was needed to keep her knee from bleeding. The officer also reported that the window was broken, and there was a broken glass container inside the vehicle.

The officer located Daniels, who reportedly stated spontaneously that he had thrown something into his own vehicle.

Post Miranda, Daniels reportedly said he had been arguing with the victim, had gotten “overheated,” and had thrown a glass object into the vehicle while she was inside. He initially said he threw the glass object because the victim had tried to hit him with the vehicle, but he later reportedly admitted that he had lied.

Daniels has been charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm, throwing an object into a vehicle, and felony battery with a previous battery conviction. Daniels has five felony convictions (three violent) and five misdemeanor convictions (three violent) and has served two state prison sentences, with his most recent release in January 2025. Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
