GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Yaharrie Jeremiah Deon Edwards, 27, was arrested early this morning and charged with aggravated domestic battery with bodily harm after allegedly trying to stab his boyfriend with a knife and hitting him with a broken chair leg.

The two men were arguing at Edwards’ apartment at about 2:20 a.m. this morning when Edwards allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the bedroom door while the victim was standing behind the door. Edwards then allegedly picked up a broken chair leg and used it to hit the victim on the chest and head; he also allegedly threw a liquid cleaning product on the victim, causing mild eye irritation.

The victim showed a Gainesville Police Department officer a video that reportedly showed Edwards chasing the victim into the bedroom while holding a chair leg.

The victim reportedly had multiple lacerations to his face and neck area and a superficial puncture to his chest.

Post Miranda, Edwards reportedly said he grabbed the knife in self-defense and admitted stabbing the door and throwing liquid cleaner on the victim.

Edwards has one misdemeanor conviction for knowingly driving with a suspended license. Judge Thomas Jaworski set bail at $5,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
