Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kenny Michael Foster, Jr., 27, was arrested early this morning and charged with six felonies after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop.

At about 12:23 a.m. Monday morning, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop on Foster’s car in the 6100 block of SW 20th Avenue for having one functional brake light and no tag lights. The vehicle reportedly drove about three blocks before entering Majestic Oaks, driving past multiple buildings before abruptly stopping; Foster and a passenger reportedly got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Foster was eventually subdued with a Taser. No further information was provided on the arrest report about the passenger.

A search incident to arrest reportedly produced a loaded firearm that had been reported stolen in Hillsborough County and a small tube containing two Oxycodone pills.

Foster has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, grand theft of a firearm, fleeing with lights and sirens active, possession of a controlled substance, resisting an officer without violence, and driving with a suspended license.

Foster was arrested in September 2020 and charged with attempted homicide and armed robbery because he was allegedly with someone who shot and robbed a man in Majestic Oaks on August 12, 2020. He later entered a plea of nolo contendere to unarmed robbery in exchange for a two-year state prison sentence, and the attempted homicide charge was dropped. He was released from prison in July 2022.

Foster has juvenile convictions between 2009 and 2013, three felony convictions (one violent), and four misdemeanor convictions (none violent). He has served one state prison sentence. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $217,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
