GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a recent development, Mir Agha Aseel, aged 66, received a life sentence on charges that include two counts of sexual battery involving a minor aged between 12 and 18, as well as two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation. This follows a jury’s conviction in November.
The case against Aseel began with his arrest on November 17, 2021, after a young girl confided in an adult about the ongoing abuse. Subsequently, she was interviewed by a School Resource Officer along with an investigator from the Department of Children and Families. During interviews conducted by the Child Protection Team, the girls described inappropriate touching by Aseel, detailing that one had experienced this over several years, while the other mentioned it had been happening for an extended period. The investigation concluded that at least two incidents qualified as sexual battery and two others as lewd and lascivious molestation.
On November 6, 2025, Aseel faced an Alachua County jury that found him guilty on all counts. Consequently, Judge David Kreider imposed two concurrent life sentences for the sexual battery charges, alongside two concurrent 15-year sentences for the remaining charges. Additionally, Aseel has been classified as a Sexual Predator.
