GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Julian Lee Myhand, 35, was arrested yesterday for allegedly threatening to shoot a woman during an argument.
A Gainesville Police Department officer reported that at about 4:04 p.m. on August 8, Myhand got into an argument with the victim at Southern Pines Apartments (4125 SW 17th Place), pulled out a gun, and said that he would shoot her. The victim reportedly told the officer that she was in fear for her life when Myhand pulled out the gun.
Post Miranda, Myhand reportedly said he had argued with the victim, who was yelling at him and “cursing him out,” but he did not have a firearm and didn’t know anything about a firearm.
A witness reportedly told the officer he heard Myhand and the victim arguing and heard Myhand say he would shoot her.
The officer reported that no firearm was found.
Myhand, whose address is listed as GRACE Marketplace, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has four felony convictions (two violent) and five misdemeanor convictions (non-violent) and has served three state prison sentences, with his most recent release in February 2025 after serving a three-year sentence for burglary with battery. Judge Kristine Van Vorst set bail at $75,000.
