GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 25-year-old man, Likeeyo Ranard Young, found himself in police custody early this morning after reportedly forcing his way into an apartment and taking a doorbell camera.
In the early hours of December 14, around 3:18 a.m., officers from the Gainesville Police Department were dispatched to The Polos apartment complex located at 2330 SW Williston Road. This followed a report that Young had forcibly kicked open the door of an apartment.
The apartment was occupied at the time of the incident, and according to the caller, Young was not authorized to enter. The damage inflicted on the door was estimated to be around $1,100. Additionally, Young allegedly removed a doorbell camera from its installation outside the apartment and concealed it in his pocket.
After being read his Miranda rights, Young allegedly confessed to entering the apartment to retrieve a cell phone, admitting he was not a resident there. When questioned about the damage to the door, he is said to have responded, “I admit to everything I did, and it’s your job to find out.”
Young has been charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, felony property damage, and petit theft. He has a juvenile conviction, three adult felony convictions (one violent), and one adult misdemeanor conviction; he has served two state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2023. Judge Susan Miller-Jones ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.
