GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alderious Jerrad White, 32, has been sentenced to a 50-year term in prison after entering a plea of nolo contendere to charges of homicide and armed burglary. This follows his involvement in a home invasion on July 19, 2022, that resulted in the fatal shooting of a woman. Previously, Jason Travis Ward received a 30-year prison sentence for his participation in the crime, while Tiara Lanae Luckey was sentenced to 15 years of probation for driving the getaway vehicle.
Police reports detail that Ward forcibly entered the home by kicking down the door, after which White followed him inside, armed with a gun. Inside, White encountered D’halani Armstrong and fatally shot her. During the incident, one of the victims managed to shoot White, leading to his immediate arrest at the scene.
As White approached his trial date, he opted to plead nolo contendere to charges of homicide during a burglary, armed burglary, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Concurrently, he addressed two other cases involving fraudulent check cashing. Judge Robert Groeb imposed two concurrent 50-year sentences for the primary charges and an additional concurrent 15-year sentence for the firearm charge. White received credit for time served, totaling 1,193 days, for the other offenses. In the sentencing document, Judge Groeb stipulated that White must continue to provide honest testimony against his co-defendants involved in the home invasion.
